on soup and snow and bovine sounds ~

first and foremost, a huge thank you to organizer extraordinaire lori anderson for hosting the bead soup party... a really wonderful activity - and i was so happy to be introduced to so many incredibly talented people... thanks to all of you who stopped by and left a comment... there was a very long list of participants, so i appreciate the time you took ~ (don't forget to post your pics to the flickr group so we can look at them all together)

a few pictures of the nor'easter that blew up the east coast - this is tuesday afternoon with  remnants of saturday's snowfall... 

the first flakes began to fall on tuesday night for us - the narnian lamppost came to mind...

i just got myself some real business cards... for environmental reasons, i was trying to do something homemade... but it wasn't cutting it... these moo cards were a happy compromise... and i looooooooove them!

how can you not love a company that puts this in their packaging! 

off to try new things - yay!

soup's on!

obviously, they had never heard of bead soup!  lori anderson at pretty things came up with the idea of a bead soup party - where participants exchanged components and then worked their personal magic on them... today is the big reveal... if you go to the link above, you will find the links to all of the participants... wander around and see what everyone created!

these are the incredible beads that i got from laurie at mermaid glass... she does such beautiful lampworking... just look at that focal bead... and she was really generous with me...  they have such a beach-y feel to them, i just love that... 

for me the beach is the best of everything, light glittering off of the water, sand rubbing on my feet, skies that go on forever, treasures of all kinds at your fingertips... and also very natural - wash up from storms, driftwood, remnants of crabs and fish - organic matter... 

and so i tried to recreate that effect...
