story time was sacred time when my kids were small... actually it lasted well past their ability to read on their own and was more like a quiet shared time with treasured stories... 

and i had to read 3 - no, pages didn't matter (unless it was a book of poetry by uncle shelby... i had to take a stand somewhere)... neither did my drifting off as i would be poked awake... 

sendak was a given... 

and to this day, we all have the 'really rosie' soundtrack on our ipods... 

thank you to the man who depicted humans as human - and all of the contradictions contained therein...
