i started carving in rubber block - and love it...
om, lotus, feathers and a bear totem... i thought i would be using them on fabric for the peace flags project...
but it seems i cannot escape the jeweler/metal worker mindset... and i'm ok with that... the whole idea for the project was to be interpretive - to send wishes for peace free in your own way...
my first set of flags are on the small side, copper om and lotus buds alternating... connected in such a way that movement in possible... highlighted with floss in the correct color arrangement... one wrapped lapis drop at the bottom...
you can read more about the project (and join in if you like) here...
it may be my only art of the summer but i am going to do it...
ReplyDeletei love those miniature copper flags...
hope you are well...
Small scale in so many ways seems to suit our steps towards peace as it is accomplished not in leaps but in many small steps intentionally taken.
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful! You are so inspiring. I still haven't carved any stamps yet but I'm thinking about it...and that is how things begin, yes? hehehehe ♥♥♥

ReplyDeleteyour flags are wonderful - would love to see them up close... but the bear is just fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteMJ- what a journey - from the rubber blocks to the etched images. So glad the jeweller mind and hands took over - beautiful outcome. B
ReplyDeleteI love the flag thought -- reminds me of the Tibetan exhibit I saw in Chicago the other week! You would have loved all the prayer wheels and things -- the engravings were amazing.
