'if you don't know where you are going,
any road will get you there.'
- lewis carroll
i also have this chinese proverb kept around the house -any road will get you there.'
- lewis carroll
that really was how i was feeling when i started... it was ok to not know where i was headed and i felt freer...
'if we don't change the direction we are headed,
we will end up where we are going.'
we will end up where we are going.'
hmm... so that one is more about life direction, the path, the way, the tao... the first one by lewis carroll at first struck me funny, like 'not good'... but, during the course of my walk this a.m. i realized that his applies more to creativity and is very relevant... it relates more to my stream-of-consciousness free association way of thinking...
what do you think?
what do you think?
Clearly stream of consciousness designing suits you! I'm so thrilled that my little charms get to play a role in these gorgeous pieces :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you mix textures, pattern, and earthy colors. I'm completely drawn to the bracelet. I guess it feels like a group of friends met for tea.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I'm struggling with that Chinese proverb! I realize how much I don't live my life in that way. Thanks for nudging me to think differently :)
thanks, mellisa... yes, there is more of a flow...
ReplyDeleteand beth - thanks so much... i love the lewis carroll one, which i at first revolted against a bit in my head... the proverb i have had for years, kind of as a 'be mindful' warning... then the new one turned things upside down... but that's a good thing! (and certainly what he is known for)
So very lovely. I love when that bolt of lightning hits and it just works. I finished a piece last night that I had been stuck on. And coincidentally, it was a Chinook pendant that burst the floodgates open! I will have to snap a photo of it this weekend and post it to my blog. Thanks for sharing a bit of your inspiration! Enjoy the day! Erin
ReplyDeleteP.S. I do like the Lewis Carroll quote...but sometimes I think it is a good idea to start out without a path in mind and go where it will!
no kidding, erin! that is why it sat so funny with me, i guess... but i found it to be intriguing...
ReplyDeleteoh, sorry - cannot wait to see what you made!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your pieces! Doesn't seem like you have block... ; )
ReplyDeleteLove your work!!! I also love working with Mellisa's components.
ReplyDeletethanks so much - have a show tomorrow on the boardwalk, have my fingers crossed that things go well... :0) of course, a nice day by the beach is always good, but i can't deny it would be nice to get some business out of it too!
ReplyDeleteThought provoking! I like the Lewis Carroll quite - because it is not the destination that counts, but the journey...
ReplyDeleteLovely bracelet!! Hope you have a great show on the boardwalk - sounds like magic to me!
I like all of them, the earrings the most I think.
