i have a new practice i have put into place during my walks... imagining things/people i fear as the pebbles at my feet... rather than feeling the fear press down upon me... or close in on me from all sides... i imagine it beneath me... something i can view from a different, more manageable perspective... it allows for the light to shine while i think upon how i choose to handle each one...
'you have brains in your head.
you have feet in your shoes.
you can steer yourself any direction you choose.
you're on your own.
and you know what you know.
you are the guy who'll decide where to go.'
~ dr. seuss oh, the places you'll go
You are on a roll with the quotes today. Love this one and love your new practice. Perhaps I'll steal it, if you don't mind.
ReplyDeletelovely idea, a different perspective ..
ReplyDeleteand of course Dr.Suess's wonderful words..
an excellent philosophy!
ReplyDeleteDon't we all have those little mind games that we use to calm ourselves? I love your thoughts here- a great perspective. That Dr. Seuss is a pretty smart guy- I love his prose!
ReplyDeleteI know you are always busy with new projects- can't wait to see what you create next!

A new perspective is always a good thing - finding a way to deal with our fears is a first step in mastering them...
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts to be applied to many aspects of life! Keep finding the steps to allow you to see beyond where you are at - there is a lot to see and experience, and to constantly renovate and revive ones inner state of being. Thanks for sharing MJ!
ReplyDeleteYou always have a way of saying things I need to hear....I was cleaning and organizing today and found my collection of Dr. Seuss books...they've always been favorites...I'm going to have to have a storytime with myself and this one again soon. Another favorite of mine is My Many Colored Days....which was written posthumously and illustrated by another artist but I love the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteEasy words to read.
ReplyDeleteNot so easy to translate them to action.
Fears are pebbles under your feet...YES THEY ARE! And as you walk..the bugs under the pebbles scatter for they know you will overcome.
You know the power, now!
