a primal place

finished 'inner sanctum' earrings - it took a long while to work through the design... but i ultimately relied upon interpreting my space... my inner sanctum is ancient... like a clearing in a forest - green with lichen growing on fallen stumps... breezes blow through the leaves, creating rustling noises... small shafts of light filter through the tree cover... and a trickling stream is heard in the distance... 

these 'journey' earrings were designed for the love my art jewelry giveaway this week... the powerful symbol of the unending circle, combined with papers preserved in resin that encourage one to live... hand dyed fibers in beautiful blue/green... and iolite - a stone for spiritual seekers which helps to balance the yin/yang energies... if you haven't entered, please do - the rules are on the site...

'pure emotion' was created in just this way... i was feeling a lot, too much to pull apart... and so i allowed the texture, color and technique to speak for me... beautiful enamel bead by barbara lewis and raku by keith o'connor...

thank you to everyone who commented - some new faces and many old friends! i think the overwhelming sentiment was that blogging has connected us with wonderful people from all over... that we share, learn and are inspired by them... and that we cannot imagine life without these people and resources in it...

over and over again in the past year, i have been saved, encouraged, inspired, stretched by the most wonderful people... i have developed friendships that i couldn't have imagined... and i am so very grateful... 

i would like to thank you by having a giveaway of my own... just tell me how your life has changed because of a blogging service (blogger, typepad, wordpress, etc) ... that's it! how about we give it until friday - so there is something nice to announce on monday...

while i do not know that this is how nancy schindler feels, i always think of this quote when i see something new come up on the rabbit muse ... it inspires me and, to be honest, makes me wonder if she really has all of the necessary components in her inventory or if she is just so incredibly talented that she can make something out of almost nothing (which is what i am guessing to be the case)... truly an artist who is constantly pushing and experimenting...

but i digress!
