ever watchful

the goddess hera is most commonly known as the greek olympian wife of zeus... depicted as shrewish, she has gotten a seriously bum rap... for hera as a goddess predates even zeus... her mythology goes back to matriarchal cultures... a strong and powerful woman who was identified as the mother goddess... 


the peacock was one of her symbols... it was representative of her watchfulness over women... there is an eye in its feathers... 


when i work with these patina colors, i think of the peacock... and of hera... these earrings were designed to act as a talisman - to remind one of their inherent strength... strength to be used for good, for protecting oneself and others, for standing up for one's beliefs... 


citrine was chosen as a manifesting stone - assisting one to see clearly and then take action...

inner sanctum revisited... i like the way these pendants can be touched, warming to the heat of the body... a glimmering blue topaz captures and glows with light... 

a primal place

finished 'inner sanctum' earrings - it took a long while to work through the design... but i ultimately relied upon interpreting my space... my inner sanctum is ancient... like a clearing in a forest - green with lichen growing on fallen stumps... breezes blow through the leaves, creating rustling noises... small shafts of light filter through the tree cover... and a trickling stream is heard in the distance... 

these 'journey' earrings were designed for the love my art jewelry giveaway this week... the powerful symbol of the unending circle, combined with papers preserved in resin that encourage one to live... hand dyed fibers in beautiful blue/green... and iolite - a stone for spiritual seekers which helps to balance the yin/yang energies... if you haven't entered, please do - the rules are on the site...

this is my little pile of proof - proof that i can still try to channel even when time is short... they have not been patina-ted or anything... but they sit on my table, ready...

inner sanctum

this is, quite possibly, one of my most favorite phrases ever (at least it speaks so much to me right now)... 

who do you allow in your inner sanctum? do you let in many? few? none? 

how does that place feel to you? do you open it and share it? do you protect it? do you hide inside of it? 

i take refuge - and let in few... this surely changes, as life changes, as circumstances change...
