happy new year ~

01.01.10  looks like binary code!
my head went to these places (amongst others as i am a cerebral wanderer) as i lay in bed -
there will be an 8.9.10 this year... as well as 12.11.10... and of course, a 10.10.10 (only 2 years left to be able to do that)...
a 6.8.10 (even numbers)...

resolutions - how about steps, small ones to build towards larger ones?
how about starting it all with truth to self?

'love takes off masks we fear we
cannot live without
and know we cannot live within.'
~ james arthur baldwin

i made these last night in the quiet... and felt that to accomplish anything else, truth to self is necessary... loving oneself enough to be honest with oneself... pearls are used for their beauty, their association to thoughts and wisdom... softly colored yarn by myfanwy at sassa lynne ... aged, bent, hammered we are... but strong and soft... flexible, loving and giving... resin is translucent - leaving you unmasked to yourself...

and my word for the year... erin has challenged us to find one... i will admit that as many came and went through my head, i couldn't shake one that i had seen on nina bagley's blog... that word is nascent... and i know that i will need to keep it very much in the forefront of my thinking as i progress through the days...

  1. My mind is very much the same, funny. I have gotten better control on announcing these seemingly abstract thoughts though...I used to just blurt them out leaving many wide-eyed wonderers in my path.

This new design direction with the yarn and resin has so much energy, I really do like it!

  6. These earrings are fabulous, Mary Jane! I've been wanting to try making some things with resin myself this year.

  7. Such a wonder-filled word to choose. I will watch with great interest to see where that word takes you. I love these earrings. Especially that they were created in the quiet of the day from bits of this and that. I can imagine you playing with those materials and forming them in your capable hands. Enjoy the day, MJ! Erin

  10. This earrings are like little roadmaps - affirming direction and truth...I, too, work in the quiet sometimes~not all the time but some of the time~when I am prepared to tackle my thoughts! You have "grown", my friend, but I hesitate to use that word because it somehow implies that you had to, that the initial version was not good enough - not the case...how about "you have travelled along the path and picked up new experiences", ya, that's better...I have too, in the last year, and I love it for both of us....
