'strange is our situation here upon earth.  each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why,  yet sometimes seeming to a divine purpose.  from the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that we are here for the sake of others... for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy.  many times a day, i realize how much my outer and inner life is built upon the labors of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly i must exert myself to give in return as much as i have received.'

  4. I think the perfection in your work is that we each bring our story to it. We each see something different in what you make and by expressing that, we enrich your experience in the making of it and enrich ours by striving to see meaning in something that we can choose to interpret in many ways, based on our own experience. You have such a subtle genius!

  7. Mary Jane- wow- such a profound verse-- do deep in meaning and truth. Sometimes we don't always know our purpose-- it's a wonderful surprise when we finally figure it out!!!

I'm wishing you a wonderful new year--

  8. Thank you, Mary Jane! I had never read this quote before. This part was particularly helpful for me to hear: "I realize how much my outer and inner life is built upon the labors of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly i must exert myself to give in return as much as i have received." Now you've got me thinking how to weave this better into my life and work! Kudos for the poetry of texture and coloration on your piece too!
