i breathe in
and i am connected to the trees
i breathe out
and i am connected to the trees.
you too.
in ever so many ways,
we are all connected.
(but that is a topic for another post!)
Leaves are so beautiful in every stage of their lives - the transparency of budding leaves in springtime, I love the rustling sounds they make in summer, the vibrance of their colors in autumn, the lace of their veining in decay...
ReplyDeleteYour leaves are just as beautiful as their natural counterparts. And I love the stitching with the red thread!
MJ - I totally understand about the leaves - such a metaphor for our own lives - guess that is why I'm also drawn to them and just keep making them for different setting and uses. Love what you are doing with the fragility of leaves - though after six weeks your leaves are still attached and flying on the Peace Tree. Must bring it down today. Go well. B
ReplyDeleteBeautiful leaves! I love the colorful stitching in the last two. Today I've been enjoying leaves at my daughter's Cross Country State competition. It was in a rural setting with several ponds where the colorful trees were reflecting onto the water. What a gorgeous site!
ReplyDeleteAnd this time of year, OH MY, the leaves are just amazing!!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about that shape? A leaf one day, a shield the next. I've wanted to work with that shape for the longest time yet never have. In your hands, its pure magic.
ReplyDeleteI cannot really say what it is about your work that makes it so special. The simplicity maybe... But there is only simplicity in the execution, the thought processes that lead you there are always deep and complex. Your works are like little poems, their strength concentrated in a few well-placed lines.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy seeing your work. your imagery. your words...
ReplyDeletethey go with me through the day...
Thank You!!!
:)
I'm also drawn to that shape...a leaf, a fish, an eye...Enjoying your foray into fiber of all kinds!
ReplyDeleteI love these new leaves you are doing. There is both a crispness and a softness to them at the same time. Linen is such a wonderful fabric, there is something kind of simple and homespun about it. I love the way it crinkles.
ReplyDeletesimply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMJ- these are beyond gorgeous- the stitching details bring these leaves to life so beautifully. I'm in love with leaves as much as you are:)
ReplyDeleteYour creations are magical- the new direction that your creative path is flowing is truly a gift from God.

ReplyDeleteOoooo leaves! Yes, one of my favorites! Trees, leaves, forests, the amazing shades of green, the different shapes: LIFE. Leaves~~ Love these pieces!
ReplyDeleteSO pretty! I know what you mean about being connected to leaves, I have always related to the annual death and rebirth cycle. I am so glad you are still striving to create, Maire, and the results are just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'm drawn to leaves too and of course your stitched leaves in pebble tones make me happy.
