  1. Leaves are so beautiful in every stage of their lives - the transparency of budding leaves in springtime, I love the rustling sounds they make in summer, the vibrance of their colors in autumn, the lace of their veining in decay...
Your leaves are just as beautiful as their natural counterparts. And I love the stitching with the red thread!

  2. MJ - I totally understand about the leaves - such a metaphor for our own lives - guess that is why I'm also drawn to them and just keep making them for different setting and uses. Love what you are doing with the fragility of leaves - though after six weeks your leaves are still attached and flying on the Peace Tree. Must bring it down today. Go well. B

  3. Beautiful leaves! I love the colorful stitching in the last two. Today I've been enjoying leaves at my daughter's Cross Country State competition. It was in a rural setting with several ponds where the colorful trees were reflecting onto the water. What a gorgeous site!

  5. What is it about that shape? A leaf one day, a shield the next. I've wanted to work with that shape for the longest time yet never have. In your hands, its pure magic.

  6. I cannot really say what it is about your work that makes it so special. The simplicity maybe... But there is only simplicity in the execution, the thought processes that lead you there are always deep and complex. Your works are like little poems, their strength concentrated in a few well-placed lines.

  9. I love these new leaves you are doing. There is both a crispness and a softness to them at the same time. Linen is such a wonderful fabric, there is something kind of simple and homespun about it. I love the way it crinkles.

  13. SO pretty! I know what you mean about being connected to leaves, I have always related to the annual death and rebirth cycle. I am so glad you are still striving to create, Maire, and the results are just wonderful!
